Organization: Bikini Beach Cat Rescue is a tax exempt non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, incorporated in August, 2011.  All contributions are tax deductible to you. Our EIN # is:  32-0348743.

Mission: to address the problem of the free-roaming, homeless cat and kittens by offering low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and by utilizing TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) for community (feral) cats, which reduces their numbers through natural attrition.

Why: since all shelters are full, there is a need to reduce the intake of all cats and kittens, companion and community (feral) cats.

How: by offering low-cost spay/neuter clinics to the community.  Please help by supporting our mission with a contribution to continue these low-cost spay/neuter clinics for the community.

100% of all funds raised for Bikini Beach Cat Rescue goes towards supporting low-cost spay/neuter clinics to help animals and their pet parents in need of assistance.  All of our funding comes from donations by generous individuals within the community.  No one takes a salary; we are all vounteers dedicated to animal welfare.  We need your support to bring down the number of animals surrendered to shelters, dumped in many neighborhoods, and even killed.  Kittens who haven't even been conceived today will die next year unless we can stop this endless breeding cycle. Please help us stop the heartbreak of abandoned cats and surplus kittens born each year and donate now.  You can make a difference; it just takes the first step.  Visit our 'How You Can Help' page.

We sponsored World Spay Day along with The Humane Society on February 26, 2013 at both The Animal Hospital & Laser Center and The Cat's Meow for felines and have some scheduled today and next week because we were so busy. We did 42 surgeries and I'm pleased with the turnout. Think of how many kittens will not be born into an uncertain future with so many cats available for homes. Thanks to all the responsible pet owners!
We will continue to offer low-cost spay & neuter clinics weekly!

Bikini Beach Cat Rescue sponsored two low-cost spay/neuter clinics on Tuesday, October 16th
in suppport of National Feral Cat Day; one at The Animal Hospital & Laser Center in Pawleys Island and one at The Cat's Meow in Myrtle Beach. There were a total of 37 cats spayed and neutered. I was particularly pleased with the response from Georgetown County residents since we are just in the begining stages of getting our name out to the public in Georgetown.  Thanks to all who participated in the event to reduce the cat & kitten over-population in our area.

On July 17th, we hosted a 'Spay & Neuter Day' for felines at The Cat's Meow; it was a huge success!  We had 24 surgeries scheduled and started a second list for the following Tuesday.  Thanks to all the responsible pet parents for getting their animals 'fixed'.  We look forward to the day when there are enough homes for these animals.

We are raffling tickets to The Reserve Golf Club in Pawley's Island for a foursome, cart included.  The Reserve Golf Club is a private golf club without distractions or intrusions, all part of the plan.  Of the more than 100 golf courses in the Carolina Grand Strand Region, The Reserve has been recognized as one of the premier courses in the area with both national and state rankings.  The golf package is worth $500.00.  Cost is $20 per ticket. Call 655-7881.   See How You Can Help page for picture.

The Found Animals Foundation, a Los Angeles based nonprofit funded by billionaire spinal surgeon Gary Michelson announced a $25 million prize to the first entity to develop a low-cost, single-dose, nonsurgical method for permanently sterilizing cats and dogs. The Michelson Prize and Grants in Reproductive Biology made another $50 million available for related research. A sterilant that can be deployed in the field could enable local animal groups to break the breeding cycle with less money and fewer volunteers. There are many researchers vying for the prize who have received sustantial grant funding from the foundation. In the last 10 -15 years, science has advanced on so many fronts that Executive Director Aimee Gilbreath believes a nonsurgical sterilant will be a reality this decade.
We are all working towards that day when there will be enough homes for all the animals. Visit: www.foundanimals.org for more information.
Recent Grant Recipients:  The following Michelson Grants have recently been awarded
George L. Gerton, PhD, CRRWH at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, “Development of Targeted Nanoparticles as Non-Surgical Sterilizing Agents: Proof of Concept Study in Mice.” 2 years, $493,919.
  •     A.C. Schaefers-Okkens, DVM, PhD at the University of Utrecht, “Kisspeptin: the Endocrinological Gatekeeper to Reproductive Function. A Realistic Target for Non-Surgical Contraceptives in the Dog.” 1 year, $252,271.
  •     Lee Smith, PhD at the University of Edinburgh MRC Centre for Reproductive Health, “Targeting somatic cells to develop a non-surgical sterilant.” 3 years, $609,469.
